We’ve all hit a creativity wall at some point or another. When no idea flows through your head it can be discouraging and irritating. I have gone through periods where I feel that I don’t have any more new and creative ideas, I had officially hit a creator’s block. Whenever I feel this way I like to visit a couple of sources that get me back on my feet.
Instagram is one of my favorite outlets to get more inspiration. If you play your cards right, your explore page will become an endless sea of inspiration. Instagram does a good job at tailoring to what you like and don’t like, it’s very easy to see pictures you love on Instagram with hardly any effort at all. The more images of things you like (for example recipes) the more of that content you will see. If you love home decor and interior design your explore page will be filled with just that and all you have to do is like images in that category.
I mention this platform a lot because its very helpful when it comes to finding something, especially inspiration. Pinterest works a lot like Instagram in that if you like and pin a certain picture, you will see more pictures with the same aesthetic on your feed.
This platform does an even better job than Instagram at showing you just what you want to see. When you click on an image on Pinterest and scroll shown, you will find more images with a very similar aesthetic.

This also works when you create a board. For example, I have a board filled with pictures of beautiful trim and crown molding when you click on that board there is a button that says “more ideas” and Pinterest will find other images that are very similar to the ones you have in that board. Then click on the “+” on the image it will automatically add that image to your board.

This makes it so easy to find inspiration and save more images to refer to later.
Catalogs
Seems so simple but such a great outlet to find inspiration. I love keeping older catalogs because it’s also nice to look back, you never know what might spark your creativity even if you have seen it a dozen times before. Many furniture and home decor stores allow you to request a printed catalog in the mail, others have digital catalogs on their website. Whether printed or digital, catalogs help you find inspiration and they also make it easier to find a piece of furniture or decor as opposed to Instagram or Pinterest.
I hope these tips and tricks are as helpful to you as they are to me in finding inspiration when I am stuck.
Until next time!
